Stick® Workshop with Greg and David Parr
Greg and David Parr are teaching a one-day Chapman Stick workshop at
Allied Music Instructors in Knoxville, Tennessee, organized by Jeff Comas.
This workshop is open to players of all skill levels and will cover subjects ranging from basic technique, instrument setup and more
advanced melody and accompaniment skills to arranging songs for performance on The Stick.
Greg focuses on building your technique from the ground up, emphasizing movement and involvement of your whole body from mind to fingertips. With some emphasis on theory, and major emphasis on "action", students will learn how to understand the fretboard intuitively, through muscle memory training, and bulding connections with the eye, ear, hand and mind. They will learn how to train themselves for better hand independence, the key element of Emmett's Free Hands two-handed tapping method. David is a veteran solo instrumentalist with a vast repertoire of tunes he regularly performs around Nashville. He will be focusing primarily on arrangement strategies and techniques. Total beginners are welcome, and if you don't have a Stick yet, there are a couple available on a first-come first served basis. This workshop will be limited to 16 students.
Registration ($100) by check or PayPal. There will be a $10 discount for registrations received by September 16. visit Greg on: |
